Game Piracy Have a Positive Impact ?


A study says that piracy is not only a devastating effect, but it also brings positive impact on the outcome score the game which resulted in increased sales.

Piracy is a classic problem that has yet to be resolved. Not just for music and film industry, the producers had made furious game with the pirate activity continues to increase.

However, based on research conducted by the Copenhagen Bussiness School and the University of Waterloo to prove the existence of good correlation between piracy game with the review of the game.


Research headed by 3 frontman of each institution, Anders Drachen, Kevin Bauer and Rob Veitch was observed that about 173 new game titles released for 3 months.

From all these games are 127 of them already have downloaded the BitTorrent and as many as 12.7 million times. So that was quoted by DailyTech, Monday (08/08/2011).

Of all the games have been downloaded illegally, 10 of which the most frequently downloaded turned out to have an average score of good in the eyes of the observer games. Game titles include:

NBA 2k11 score of 86.7
TRON Evolution 59.5
Call of Duty: Black Ops score of 83.4
Starcraft 2 score of 89.5
Star Wars the Force Unleashed 2 score of 61
Two Worlds II score of 73.3
The Sims 3: Late Night score of 77.4

"The results showed a positive relationship between the number of downloads with an average value review of the game" of research results
