Ancient Cell Phone Better Used for phone

A study says, mobile phones old school - who still use the 2G network - has a better capability when used to call rather than a smartphone that has a capacity of 3G.

Latest generation of mobile phones such as Apple's iPhone or Samsung S2 Galaxy, does offer advanced 3G technology that allows access to high-speed networks, email and internet.

Unfortunately, based on research conducted in the UK communications regulator Ofcom, the performance of advanced mobile phones is not so good when used on the phone, especially in rural areas. Apparently for the affairs of this,  old school phone is still superior.

Friday (12/08/2011), old school phone, or commonly referred to as feature phones, allowing more internal space for the antenna.

"This is possibly due to reduced complexity of the antenna on a mobile phone. And this phone has no problem in terms of switching between 2G to 3G networks," Ofcom wrote in his report.

In fact, Ofcom said the sound quality on both types of phones are the same. In his research, Ofcom also find out whether the users get enough good information about mobile network coverage. The result, only three out of ten users consult experienced network problems.

Through this study, the communications regulator wants to encourage shop with good cell phone to inform consumers about the coverage when they buy a mobile phone network.
